IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS ALBUM IN 2025

A rapper and producer collaboration is one of the oldest traditions in rap. We’ve seen it with Freddie Gibbs & the Alchemist with Alfredo 1/2, Madlib & MF DOOM with Madvilliany, Saba & No ID with From The Private Collection - So when I saw that LukeAlmighty and Sonny were making an album together titled Almighty & The Chief I jumped out of my seat!

I was pulled into the album with hard hitting drums, recognizable samples, and instrumentation that ushers in Sonny like a King on a chariot— bold and grand. A perfect representation of this is the track Keep going. Introduced by an iconic horn sample from one of the biggest artists *NO SAMPLE SNITCHING*, loose hi-hats and textured snares— Sonny touches down on this beat instantly matching the energy that Almighty enveloped us in. The second I heard Keep going I knew it was going to be my favorite track.

One trait that Sonny has is that his rapping doesn’t get old, this is largely due to his calm and controlled tone/inflection, as well as his ability to fit so many words within a tight pocket. His style allows for seamless collaboration, so when 75— the only feature on this album follows after Sonny, it doesn’t feel out of place.

This album exceeded my already high expectations. Outside of Keep going some other tracks that I'm always coming back to are; Winning Team, Outta Control, and Gotta be joking. I highly recommend checking this project out if you missed it in late 2025.

I honestly don’t have anything I would change about this album. I believe critiques should only be made if the intended purpose didn’t meet execution– I just hope that they keep collaborating and I’m excited to see how they keep progressing.

Overall, I highly recommend this album to everyone.
